the all or nothing mindset. You’re either eating chicken, rice, and protein shakes ONLY starting Monday --
or not giving meals, activity, or self-care a single thought.
how do we find the middle ground?
as a coach, I tell all my clients that I’m not here to be a quick-fix. I’m certainly not here to bombard you with a long list of all the things you’re doing “wrong” and make you fix them ASAP.
No one got to where they are overnight, so you can’t expect yourself or anyone else to change overnight either.
I’ve been there to fall for the fad diets, the lose X amount of weight in 4 weeks hacks, the skinny tea trends, keto food only consumer, vegan activist — you name it, I can probably attest to my experience with it.
The one thing that is so attractive of all of those, however, is the illusion of instant gratification. Did you lose 10 pounds overnight with a skinny tea? Or were you actually married to the toilet all night and are severely dehydrated?
My approach as a coach is emphasizing slow additions in order to work your way up to bettering yourself everyday like:
- adding more water
- a meal focus goal
- an exercise goal
- a step goal
- a self-care goal
you get the picture. it’s small goals that can be achieved during the week to make us feel that gratification we seek, further enabling our mindset to shape itself into something more positive - dare I say a healthy mindset.
